Cochise County crime data

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Department filed roughly 590 criminal reports in 2019. More than 530 of the crimes reported were property crimes, and 47 constituted crimes against people. The majority of property crime cases involved larceny-theft (273 cases) and burglary (195 cases). The complaints in the category of violent crimes included 43 cases of aggravated assault and 1 of rape, among other offenses.

From 1999 through 2008, overall crime rates in Cochise County rose by 50%, while violent crimes rose by almost 84%. Even though most of the crimes that were reported during this time were related to burglary and theft. About one crime occurred every two hours in Cochise County, and half of those occurred less than one mile from home. The largest increase in crime during the 10-year period occurred during 2004.
